Sifaka, although it is classified in the order of the primates, is not a monkey; it is a lemur of the family of indrides. We distinguish him from his cousins (Verreaux,Decken, Tattersall, etc.) in its wide patches) brown-red perfectly drawn on its white dress and in his head, white aswell. As all the Lemurs, he is endemic of the island of Madagascar and as the others, he is endangered because of the destruction of its housing environment by the man. Intensive deforestation and singeing of lands to produce food for the cattle and some charcoal, are with the hunting, the main factors of its decline.
